13:10 Introductory roundtable: Guests will be invited to summarise their views on the major impacts of the Budget and OEP for their organisation’s commercial and procurement transformation programmes.

The OEP collaborative procurement workstrand recommendations included that:

  • an additional £6.2bn (+ £1.6bn on IT) can be saved by 2010/11
  • collaborative strategies should be developed for additional categories:construction, FM, food (increasing collaborative strategy coverage from
    £49.8bn to £78.1bn - of the £89bn of spend in categories bought commonly across government)
  • the public sector can work with Professional Buying Organisations in a more regulated manner
  • uptake of collaboration should be increased to 80% of available spend
  • more and better use should be made of management information and e-Procurement systems.
